Luggage Security Measures

By Keith Londrie The key to travel safe is to travel light. If you are traveling light you can simply retain your luggage inside the cabin with you. Luggage security measures include putting your name and address inside each piece of baggage in the event tags are separated from your luggage. As an additional luggage security measure, use plastic or nylon filament duct tape to completely wrap your luggage to prevent it from opening accidentally when dropped by baggage handlers. The most essential security measure includes resetting combination locks from factory “000″ combination to your predilection. For suitcases with multi-combination locks, set the combinations on each lock to separate random digits. For briefcases having a single combination lock, set the lock on each piece of luggage with dissimilar combinations. Prevention is better than cure. This age-old adage makes abundant sense. If you’re traveling overseas, plan to dress as inconspicuously and blend into the local environment where you will be visiting. This will make you appear as lessor of a target. There are many stories of baggage theft, therefore avoid all appearances of wealth to minimize the risk. Consider leaving jewelry at home. Be aware that jewelry is an appealing target to thieves. Consider obtaining a modest amount of foreign currency before leaving home. This isn’t a cruise. Why tempt fate. For short trips, avoid excess baggage and travel with a small handbag. Even though theft is not a frequent occurrence, you can significantly lessen potential threats enhancing luggage security, by traveling light and securely locking checked luggage. Since there is always a possibility that your luggage may get misplaced or lost, packing some clothes in your carryon or handbag exudes logic. I always have at least 1 complete change of clothes in my carry on luggage; and you should too. Lock those bags that you check thru to your destination. Modern technology has taken luggage security one-step further. Take for instance, the baggage company Samsonite. It recently invented a Bluetooth-enabled carrying case, called the Hardlite 625. This incredible luggage features Radio-frequency identification (RFID) microchips. These chips store itinerary information, like flight arrival and departure times, which could be retrieved and displayed by other compatible devices. These luggage security gadgets notify the bag’s owner if someone else tries to walk off with their baggage, and help reunite the bag with its owner if lost. These types of innovation are happening frequently and come to us as a great benefit. Best Hairstyle Fashions and Beauty Trends for 2006

By David Maillie Hairstyle and beauty has become quite a fashion statement lately. We have seen prices for a good cut or style skyrocket with no end in sight. Some cuts are going in and out of style every day it seems. As some beauty experts say – your hair can make you or break you. What will be the hot styles and beauty cuts for 2006? Some of these will surprise you. 1) The classic up-do. It has been one of the longest trends but seems to be a temporary style – something to do for a social party or event, but not every day. The hollywood stars like Jessica Simpson and many others sport the updo for Awards banquets and such, but they have personal hair stylists that can have their hair back in whatever style they want the following day. This style is best suited for medium or longer length hair. 2) Hair stenciling for uniqueness – this has been hot overseas in Japan, Milan, Paris, and London and is starting to make its way into the U.S. This is where you or a stylist create a stencil which you then attach to your hair and you use glitter and paint to make a bold, brazen fashion statement. Everything from animal prints (like tiger stripes) to symbols have been used. This works on any length hair, but is more predominantly displayed on shorter hair. Stencils have been used frequently lately on Runway models in shows by Gucci, Calvin Klein, etc… 3) The wedge. This was popular in the 1970′s and is once again becoming popular. This was the cutesy do that made the likes of Dorothy Hammil America’s sweetheart of that era. This style is gaining popularity amongst 30-40 year olds in search of a short and easily maintained style. The wedge tends to draw attention to your face, not your hair and looks natural. So, if you already have a beautiful face and skin this is a real winner, as it will draw people in to your good looks. We recommend natural, mild makeup with this do. 4) The mullet. Yes, I know we thought it died off in the early 90′s, but it is making a surge again. No one knows why, except that is is a very low maintanence style – or basically no style. It is basically a mop of hair for head banging music. “Business in the front and party in the back.” It has been popping up all over the south and has been seen on the rise even in New York, Chicago, etc… This is a bad style that just won’t go away. 5) The Fullet. The female version of the mullet. Just as bad if not worse, but, once again it is making a comeback. Maybe that means the Bangles will make a comeback also? Heavy makeup is common with this do. 6) The flip. The style from the roaring 20′s is back as can be seen at the recent awards shows. This style has always been equated with glitz and glamour. It is another easy style and is easy to maintain. The flip goes with almost any makeup regimen. All the stars have worn this do at one time or another – from Jodie Foster to Rita Garbo. Most of the hairstyles trends for 2006 are comebacks and are easy dos. Basically, people want something that is easy to manage and want variety – a cut that can be easily transformed from one style to another for different events or just for that different look. Women also want a style with easy, light makeup. According to numerous fashion sources these hairstyle and light makeup trends trends will be the big styles of 2006. Dating Money Talk: All is Fair in Love and Finances

By Dr. Jackie Black Men and women are always curious about how to engage each other in conversations about money. What questions are OK to ask? When do you start asking direct questions about money? Everybody wants to be sure they are financially compatible before they commit to a long-term partnership, but very few are comfortable talking about the issues. Being able to accurately assess financial compatibility is an essential aspect of the dating process and can also be a helpful skill in existing relationships as well. There is no substitute for spending time together in many different situations, listening carefully to personal sharing, and observing behavior. Let’s talk about your money personality. Your money personality is not dependent on how much money you earn. It has specifically to do with values, beliefs, concepts, fears, and fantasies about money. Ask yourself these questions: What did your parents tell you about money? What did you learn from observing your parents and their habits around money and with money matters? What are your beliefs about earning, spending, saving, tithing, investing, and credit? What are your ideas about earning more or less money than your partner? Would you be willing/able to support someone temporarily? Long-term? Would you be willing/able to let someone support you temporarily? Long-term? Do you enter each check in the register and balance your checkbook each month or not? What does it say to you about another person who does or does not do this? What do you spend money on? Do you pay attention to price? How well do you know yourself? How easily were you able to answer these questions? What other questions do you have? Before you open up a discussion about money be sure to clarify your own money psychology and become aware of your beliefs, needs and issues related to money. When you are dating, it is never too early to offer your points of view about anything to do with money and to listen and observe carefully what others think and say about money. There is nothing about which to feel embarrassed or ashamed. You are in charge of how you handle money. Money issues come up sooner or later so you might as well be up front from the start. Your money personalities do not have to be the same as the people you are dating or even the same as your ideal partners. The critical question is how do the differences affect you? Can you live with the consequences that may result from the differences? Some differences can be easily accommodated. Some differences can cause uneasiness in your relationship resulting in resentments that outlive the love. Remember, only YOU can make it happen! How to Kissu in Japan

By Nigel Paquin When summer approaches bringing those summer doldrums a small silver fish called the kissu makes themselves commonly found around beaches, harbors and bays. Since Japan is simply covered with these types of environments fishing for these oishi fish is a great way to spend a day on the beach with family and friends. Kids can easily master how to catch some and it will certainly bring a smile to their faces. As we all know young ones are easily bored if there are no fish being caught and they will soon develop a non interest in sport fishing. So this type of action is great for their self confidence……..remember it’s not the size that counts for kids it’s just the fun in catching them. Lets get started with some key information you are going to need to start your kissu fishing. The bait is very simple, worms or as we say in Japanese gokae. The fishing rod can be as simple as you make it. I myself just use a short 7 foot bass rod that is usually used for boat sea bass fishing. Some anglers in Japan like using 10 foot plus rods but I much prefer the light hit and the battle that will persist. My reel of choice is a Shimano NAVI 4000 series. Now you may wonder why I use such a large reel. The reason is simple, the spool is larger so I can make longer casts. If you use a smaller reel you will not be able to spool off large amounts line as quickly as a larger one. Keep your main line nice and light with some braided line of 10-15lbs. For the leaders I use store bought ones that are specially designed for this type of fishing. Depending on what type of area you will be fishing you might have to experiment with different types of packaged leaders. In Japanese harisu means leader so choosing the right strength is important. Using a lower numbered one like a 1 or 2 could result in many break offs from puffer fish. (god I hate those things) Puffer fish are your enemy at times because they can bite off your hook or leader in one fowl swoop. Many times you will have the choice between a leader with 2-5 hooks, it’s really just personal so choose one that best fits your style. Also in the stores in can be quite confusing, so make sure to just look for the package that has a kissu on it. Do not forget to always ask for help when choosing the right leader package…..it has always worked for me. Next you are going to need to add a weight and a metal wire rig. For the weight I have become very fond of #8′s. They seem to get out far and do not put too much stress on the rod making it perfect for feeling those bites. For the rigs you can choose just about any size but do not go too long. For technique it is actually quite simple. Let your set up hit the bottom of the beach or sand and slowly reel in. Place your rod on a side ways position ready to slightly twitch when you feel a hit. Try to stay clear of rocky or points that constantly snag you up, if you do run into these problem areas move onto somewhere else where you will not loose your gear every cast. Some x-tra things that are important are tripod rod holders, a pair of scissors to cut off the heads of those nasty worms, folding plastic buckets, a fish towel, a sun hat, suntan lotion, chairs, a sun umbrella for the wife to keep her cool and happy, a cooler which can filled with ice for 100 yen at just about any fishing port, of course a few beers with the cell phone turned onto manner mode…..and a crazy friend to keep you entertained! Tight lines, Nigel Paquin. Get Required Money On Better Terms At Instant Tenant Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Taylor]Peter Taylor Tenants have the same needs as others. But tenants, they live in some house hold, in association building or even with their parents, find loan availing a hard task as they do not own a property to take the loan against. In the absence of collateral lenders are apprehensive in offering loan to them. This, however, is not the case when tenants take route of instant tenant loans which are approved quickly. Lenders provide instant tenant loans for almost every purpose the tenants want it to be used. There are some basics that tenants should follow before approaching the lender to get instant tenant loans. First of all look at your credit score. Your credit score is vital in taking the loan. Lack of collateral forces lenders to secure the loan through credentials of tenants. Tenants should ensure that their credit score on FICCO scale is at least in the vicinity of 720, considered good for loan offer in the scale of 300 to 850. Any credit score below 580 makes lenders suspicious. So, if you have good score, lenders will happily give you instant tenant loans. Even if your credit score is not so good, the loan is yours. All you do is to convince the lenders that you are serious towards paying the loan. To show commitment in paying the loan you should give the lender your plan of the loan payment. If you can clear easy debts then also you impress the lenders. You should also provide proof of your steady income source and job profile. Your bank statement will also add to your creditably. After the credit check, you should decide on the loan amount. With tenants not owning a property, instant tenants loans in most cases are taken as unsecured loans. This means tenants do not have to worry about repossession of property as their secured loan seeker counterparts do. Usually lenders provide instant tenant loans in the range of 1,000 to 50,000. A loan beyond this range will depend on tenants repayment capacity, credentials and financial standing if any. Instant tenant loans are given for shorter repayment duration. Tenants do not require larger duration loan anyway as the smaller loan amount can be easily cleared. On the interest rate front, tenants may face a slight disadvantage, but can be taken care of. Being an unsecured loan, lenders offer instant tenant loans at higher interest rate. This is because lenders have to invest in insurance of the loan to cover the risk. Still, tenants can bargain for a comparatively lower interest rate if they take advantage of growing competition in the loan market. For cheaper instant tenant loans, tenants prefer applying online. This way they get numerous loan offers to choose from. Pick up the one having lower interest rate and better terms-conditions. Instant tenants loans serve well the purpose of giving loan of their requirement to tenants at the time they need the most. Make sure that the loan is paid off in time so that credibility remains intact. Peter Taylor is a senior financial analyst at Best Tenant Loans with an acumen for finance and insurance. In recent years he has taken up to provide independant financial advice through his informative articles. Overweight Children – What Can A Parent Do To Help? Part 2 of 5

By Lindsay Small In Part 1 we looked at the worrying increase in the number of overweight and obese children in the Western world, examined the possible reasons for this increase, and reminded ourselves that there is no magic formula or instant solution. But there are many ways a parent can encourage weight loss in children, which we discuss below and in Parts 3, 4 and 5. Make weight loss a family affair The most successful approach is to make your childs weight loss a family affair. That doesnt mean that you should single out your child and make the whole family responsible for making sure that they stick to a diet. It does mean that the whole family should join in, eating the same healthier foods, increasing their activity levels, and generally improving their lifestyle along with the overweight child. Obviously this is going to be easier to carry off if your children are young. You can be a direct influence on young children as you are the one buying, preparing, and serving the food, and providing the activities! Brainwash younger children while you can! Young children are very susceptible to their parents attitudes and absorb much of their wisdom willingly! If you casually mention the chemicals and additives in a packet of crisps or a fizzy drink, and read out the ingredients (or better yet, get your child to read or even write them out), you can start to influence the way that children think about food at an early age. Ask your child whether they would prefer to drink a fizzy apple-flavored drink, or eat an apple off the tree. Compare the look and the smell of the two options. Read out that list of chemicals, while polishing the apple to a shine. Make sure that you choose the apple! Most kids arent stupid and, if left entirely to their own devices, will gravitate to the real food. Keep up the subtle brainwashing and you will find that children choose the healthier options of their own accord, without feeling like they are missing out at all, and then you have won half the battle! Encourage your children to see beyond the advertising and packaging Examine foods often. Buy, and eat, the odd candy bar and then see if you can work out, with your child, what was in it. Can they recognise any part of that candy bar as real food? What does it smell like? Does it smell better before or after you eat it? What are the ingredients? How processed are they? Then look at a cherry, or grape, or even a raisin. Ask questions. Do I know what is in this? Which is more real? Which is more natural? Which fills me up more? Which is better for me? Which leaves a better taste in my mouth? Sit down with your kids in front of the television and watch a load of advertisements together. Ask the kids to choose a food product which they think is designed especially for them, and which they will enjoy. Go out and buy it. Examine it. Subject it to the tests outlined above. Ask questions about the advertising. Why do companies advertise? What are they trying to achieve? Who are they advertising for? Do the advertisements help you? Do they serve any purpose? Even the youngest children will be able to participate in this sort of discussion with help, and becoming resistant to advertising is a very useful lesson to learn young! Parts 3, 4 and 5 provide many more ideas, tips and tactics for tackling the issues an overweight child faces and encouraging gentle and effective weight loss. Overweight kids? Overweight adults? Colleges Provide Practical Education for Employment

By Michael Bustamante Colleges promote higher education and provide for the acquisition of knowledge, experience, and intellectual development important to life success, employment, and occupation. Colleges propose to provide perceptions and outlooks that prepare students for all kinds of careers. Colleges are generally considered to be four-year institutions of higher education that offer programs of study and grant degrees and certificates to students who satisfactorily complete courses of study for degree purposes. The term college also designates a school or unit of a university, as in College of Art or a College of Education. Colleges can also be post-secondary vocational and technical schools with programs intended to provide practical education for employment purposes and for advancement of careers. Vocational, technical, trade schools and colleges grant associate degrees, certificates, diplomas, and even bachelor and master degrees in many areas of practice. Colleges and universities are both institutions of higher learning that provide studies in subjects that include practices and theories of disciplines or domains. Colleges are generally four-year institutions that confer four-year associate degrees and bachelor degrees. They can also provide graduate studies for advanced certificates and master degrees, but seldom confer doctorate degrees. Universities are most often more complex institutions that provide studies of varying levels of sophistication. Undergraduate as well as graduate studies for degrees are granted by universities in the forms of associate, bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees. Universities also grant post-graduate certificates in various disciplines that advance graduate professions. 8 Proven Ways to Get Referrals

By Cheryl Vallejos Do you find it hard to ask for referrals? I know I do! Your heart starts racing, you stumble for words, and sometimes you break out in a sweat just thinking of asking for a referral. But the secret to getting referrals without having to ask is to develop a system that does the asking for you. 8 Strategies to Get Referrals Get referrals #1 Think in reverse. Instead of asking for one, earn one. If you’re not getting referrals, maybe you’re not providing the service your customers want and you are not as good as YOU think. Ask your customers what you can do to better to serve THEIR needs. When your customers are satisfied, it’ll be easy to get referrals. Get referrals #2 Give a referral. If you change your way of thinking from How do I get a referral to ‘how can I give a referral’, the rewards will be surprising. Think of someone you can refer to your clients. This is the giver’s gain philosophy Get referrals #3 Make a list of people or businesses that sell products that are complimentary to yours. If you sell health insurance, your list might include health clubs, running clubs, basketball teams or physicians. Now create a referral program that pays referral fees for people who are sent to you by your referral partners. Put a tracking mechanism in place to monitor this and make this process effective and rewarding. Get referrals #4 Ask indirectly. One of the best ways to ask for a referral without being obvious is to ask indirectly. You might say something like: “Mrs. Smith, my product (or service) is everything I say it is and more, and I have the reputation and experience that proves it. Is there someone you know who would benefit from my product (or service)?” Get referrals #5 Research Local churches in your area. Many are always looking for innovative ways to raise money to sustain the programs they offer to their members. Most churches would be enthusiastic about the opportunity to receive a donation from you or your business. Simply call up the person in charge and ask if you can meet with him or her to talk about a potential fundraising activity. As above with the charity example, propose that for every referral they send your way, you will donate a percentage of the sales to the church. In return, the church should agree to promote your business. This same referral process can be done with the booster clubs of local sports teams, Girl Scout troops and other organizations looking to raise money. Get referrals #6 Contact your business associates. Most everyone has a barber or hairstylist they use on a frequent basis, especially if they have children (I don’t know about you, but my beautician always engages me in conversation during my haircut!). Most beauticians and barbers are delighted when you give them a tip. Now you can visualizewhere I’m going with this? Why not approach the local barbers and hairstylists and offer them $1 or $2 for every referral card they pass out to their customers? You might even motivate them to talk up your business by promising them a percentage of each sale that results from their referral. Get referrals #7 Develop Good Will. The last referral system will not only bring you referrals, but will also create a lot of goodwill. I learned this tactic, strangely enough, by Princess Diana and a local real estate agent. When Princess Diana died, a close associate of hers was interviewed and revealed that Diana always carried a set of “royal” thank you notes. Every time she met with someone, she would remember their name, and as soon as she got in her car, she would write a short thank you note to them. People cherished the thank you notes they received from the Princess. After hearing that, I started to carry around my own box of thank you notes. Referral Process #8 Approach charities in your local area and ask for a list of donors. For example, most United Way donors make advanced pledges or set goals to give a specified amount to the United Way. Approach the executive sponsor of the United Way donation drive and propose that for every referral that’s sent from their organization to your business, you will take a percentage of your sale and donate it to the United Way (or whatever charity they are affiliated with) in their name. Sometimes it’s not enough to just send a thank you note, people need to know that you want and appreciate a referral. Don’t forget to show the appreciation, send thank you notes, make calls, and let people know you want and appreciate all referrals. —————————————————————– Reprinting This Article? How the Protein Diet Works

By K. Perry Protein is an essential nutrient necessary for maintaining good health. In its basic form protein consists of amino acid chains. Of the 22 amino acids that are capable of creating protein, 8 of these can only be obtained through a protein diet. Because these amino acids are utilized by the body a low protein diet can affect a host of very important functions. The building of our skin, hair, nails and internals organs all depend on amino acids and are maintained trough a protein diet. Muscle tissue as well as new tissue growth need protein for their activities and can receive adequate levels with a protein diet. Protein intake from a high protein diet helps to transport nutrients and oxygen to our cells. The valuable protein diet aids and maintains antibody production. The protein sources available to us for inclusion in a high protein diet include animal and plant based proteins. Animal proteins are found in meat, fish, cheese eggs and milk. Plant protein sources include soy, spirulina and organic whey protein diet products. While it is certainly important that we include a balanced intake of protein in our diet, many people eat too much animal based protein. This type of high protein diet could have adverse health effects, which appear as disease and obesity. Many individuals who follow an excessively high animal based protein diet are overweight and often unhealthy. People on an animal based high protein diet often have elevated bad cholesterol levels. Heart disease, strokes and osteoporosis are often the result of an excessive animal based high protein diet. It is therefore important that a well-balanced protein diet is maintained. By replacing part or all of our animal protein diet with plant proteins we can be assured that our body requirements are being met. A plant protein diet can help us to avoid the health problems associated with an excessive animal protein diet. Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats when on a plant protein diet can improve health tremendously. This plant protein diet can also aid with weight control. A plant protein diet does away with the saturated fat accumulation thus limiting unwanted weight gain. Regular exercise combined with a high protein diet including plant proteins will be beneficial to individuals wanting a healthier lifestyle. Plant proteins have many benefits of their own when included in the high protein diet. These protein diet improvements include the ability to raise good cholesterol levels while reducing bad cholesterol. This important protein diet function aids in preventing the arterial plaque build up, which could cause artery hardening and blockages. Protein from plant sources like soy and spirulina, when included in a protein diet, are able to reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks and heart disease. A vegetable high protein diet improves the ability to retain calcium in the body. Because less calcium is excreted in the urine while on a plant protein diet, problems such as kidney stones are lessened. Therefore it is important to consider exactly which type of high protein diet you are currently following. Due to the high levels of saturated fats and additives found in red meat, a plant protein diet is superior to an animal protein diet and is the healthier alternative. A True Angelic Story

By Elaine K. Stephen Many years ago my Mom died when I was only 12 years old. Naturally this was devastating for me. Every time a new occasion arose I felt a stab of pain deep in my heart. When my father gave me a key to the house, the door was never locked before because Mom was always home to greet me when I returned home from school, the first Mother’s Day, the first Thanksgiving, I had to cook the turkey that year, the first Christmas, the list goes on and on. As the years passed, naturally the pain subsides and you come to believe, through many prayers to God and Jesus Christ. you have learned to live with the reality. Getting engaged when I was 23 years old was a joyous occasion for me. As the wedding plans were being formulated and the date drew closer and closer, I started to feel that old familiar stab of pain deep in my heart because my Mother was not going to be sitting in the first row. This was a major event in my life and I felt cheated! Not only that but I thought I would walk down the isle crying and ruin the whole event! About a week before my wedding I prayed to God and Jesus Christ to ease my pain and take away my anger so I wouldn’t ruin my wedding day. I prayed hard and long with my eyes closed and then it happened! A bright light, very small at first growing larger and closer, revealed a vision of my Mother’s face. In my mind I heard her speak, “I will be with you, rejoicing with you on your wedding day.” Then the light grew smaller until it diapered all together. I immediately opened my eyes and very excitedly told my fiance, who was sitting on the other couch in the same room with me, what had just happened! Words could not then nor can they now describe the happiness, love, comfort and peace that filled my heart and my spirit when God allowed my Mother to come to me. Needless to say, I walked down the isle with a smile on my face, happiness in my heart and a comforted spirit, not only because my mother was with me, but because through God and Jesus Christ my prayers were answered during my hour of greatest need. Non-spiritual or non-Christians may say I fell asleep and dreamed this event. Let me explain, I have dreamed of my Mother many times since her death both before and after God and Jesus Christ sent my Mother to comfort me. I know when I have been sleeping and not. When ever I dream about my Mother I see her whole body and not just her face, there is realistic scenery not bright light and in my dreams my Mother never speaks to me or anyone. One religious man who read my story emailed me and told me that according to the Bible, my true story could not possibly have occurred. While I am a Christian, I am not a Bible scholar, never-the-less, I know my story is true just as I have written it. Elaine K.
